MODIS LAI

The product comprises a LAI time series of the Alps covering the years 2002 – 2016. The LAI values are determined for grasslands (pastures and meadows) according to the CORINE 2012 land cover classification at a 4-days interval. The maps are produced with an innovative algorithm developed by EURAC based on radiation transfer modeling. This algorithm exploits the 250 m MODIS surface reflectance data and is thus producing LAI at higher resolution with respect to the MODIS standard product (1 km resolution).
